Life continues for the committed to be one of increasing possibility and therefore load. Growing up to Dutch parents, I was surrounded and blessed with a culture of hard work. I certainly came to identify early on, one of the keys to prolonged success simply comes down to a good work ethic.

If the need to work hard is already identified then we also need to embrace the ability to pause or take “Selah-moments” (Selah -pause and think). Today from every side we are bombarded with “attention-needed” moments, and it is so easy to allow our lives to become just one long blur.

When I started in ministry I remember Mum saying to me, “now Paul remember when you have helped everyone you can, there will always be someone else to help”. I didn’t appreciate that at the time, but it has been proved true over many years. If the enemy can’t get you with sin he will try with busyness. We are all only one part of the puzzle, and when we learn to take pause moments we become so much more effective in what has been entrusted to us.
